How are the Vt targets set on EOlife?

How are the Vt targets set on EOlife?  #

In adults, lung capacity depends on the patient’s height and not on the weight. The patient height allows us to deduce the ideal weight and the target Vt. We then follow the guidelines based on the ideal tidal volume of 6 to 8 ml of oxygen per kilo (e.g. A male patient of 1m70 tall has an ideal weight of 70 kg) which leads us to the following categories :

• Small: patient is between 140cm and 160cm tall (Target volume between 300 and 400ml)

• Medium: patient is between 160cm and 180cm (Target volume between 400 and 500ml)

• Large: patient is between 180cm and 200cm (Target volume between 500 and 600 ml)
